Job Overview:

We are seeking a Regional Project Manager to oversee the implementation of livelihood and protection projects in the western provinces of Afghanistan, particularly Herat, Farah, Badghis, and Ghor. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and delivering project activities, ensuring efficient and effective results.


Key Responsibilities:

Project Management & Implementation:

  • Lead the management of livelihood and protection projects in western Afghanistan.
  • Coordinate with program staff and Head of Program for planning, budgeting, and monitoring project progress.
  • Ensure that projects are delivered in alignment with planned targets, timelines, and donor requirements.
  • Oversee the execution of livelihood and protection components in various provinces.

Monitoring & Evaluation:

  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to ensure that project objectives and targets are being met.
  • Collect and analyze monitoring data, producing regular reports.
  • Supervise centers in all provinces to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.

Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, community leaders, donors, and partners.
  • Collaborate with other organizations and clusters to avoid duplication and share best practices.

Budget Management:

  • Plan, monitor, and manage project budgets to ensure optimal resource utilization.

Capacity Building & Knowledge Management:

  • Identify capacity-building needs for staff and develop on-the-job training plans.
  • Share knowledge, lessons learned, and best practices across the team and with external stakeholders.

Gender & Conflict Sensitivity:

  • Ensure the mainstreaming of gender in all phases of project management.
  • Implement conflict-sensitive strategies to minimize negative impacts on local communities.

Sustainability & Reporting:

  • Ensure project activities promote sustainability and long-term impact.
  • Submit timely and accurate reports to donors and management.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management, Social Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience: At least 7 years of experience in project management within the livelihood, protection, or humanitarian sectors, with a focus on NGOs.
  • Skills:
    • Strong project management, monitoring, and reporting skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
    • Proficiency in English, Dari, and Pashto (spoken and written).
    • Computer literacy, including knowledge of the ICDL package and Microsoft Office.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Understanding of protection, livelihood, and MSME programming.
    • Familiarity with result-based monitoring and evaluation methodologies.
    • Knowledge of gender mainstreaming principles.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Ability to travel frequently to project sites in the western region.
    • Ability to work under pressure in challenging environments.
